Michael Kline

Michael Robert Kline of Bethel Park  passed away May 25, 2017.  Michael was born April 18, 1941 in Rockford, Illinois to father Robert and Kathleen (McDonald) Kline.  The oldest of four children Michael and his family moved to Phoenix in 1952.  He was drawn to music at an early age and became an accomplished and working drummer while still in his teens.  Michael served in the Navy from 1958 - 1962 working on an aircraft carrier for the majority of his service career.  His love of music stayed with him the rest of his life.  He played drums, piano, trombone and dabbled in singing with little or no formal training.  His formall studies in the arts were concentrated on painting, sketching and graphic design.  After the Navy and schooling Michael began  a job in Phoenix at Sperry Univac where he worked as a graphic artist from 1964 - 1982.  After meeting while playing in a community band together in 1976, Michael married Patricia Adams, his love and life long partner.  They soon left Phoenix and purchased a local linen supply company in Payson, Arizona.  They ran this business together for 7 years.  In 1990 Michael and Patricia drove across the country for another adventure.  Moving back to Patricia's home town of Pittsburgh turned out to be its own reward.  Michael initially worked at local silk screeners making tee-shirts before finally getting hired by Matthews International, a career that he retired from in 2006.  His love of art and music was nearly equalled by his love of fast cars and organized racing.  He loved it so much that while living in Phoenix he raced stock cars at Manazanita Speedway.  A friendly charming person, Michael was universally liked by all that knew him.  Creative, warm, hardworking - an artist, musician, mechanic, husband, father, grandfather these are great achievements.  He is and will be missed.Michael is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Kathleen, step-father Russell Bish , children Todd and Maureen Kline and brother Dennis Kline.  Michael is survived by his wife of 39 years Patricia Kline, his sister Kathleen Brown (Robert), brother Thomas Kline, step-brother Roger Bish, his 2 sons Paul and Mark Kline, step-sons Evan (Sarah) and Chris (Deborah) Eble and granddaughter Sarah Eble,  along with Uncle Ronald McDonald of Rockford Illinois.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held    at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Wednesday, May 31 at 1:30 PM.
