Mildred Hill Smith

Age 93, died October 31, 2014 in Ithaca NY.  She was the daughter the late of Rev. Robert K. Hill and Olive Wolfkiel Hill. She was the beloved wife of the late Alvin F. Smith and mother to Karen Ellen, Robert Kirkland (Paula) and Bruce Alan (Michelle), and grandmother to Heather Smith, Sam Smith, Jason Smith, Christy Smolsen, Jamie Staniewicz and step-grandmother to Heather Kilcrease. She is survived by 7 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Barbara (Joseph) Piccoli. Mildred was born in Collingswood, N. J. in 1921 and spent her girlhood and young adulthood there, marrying Alvin in 1942.  They moved to Bethel Park, PA in the 1950s, where Mildred raised her children and was an active volunteer at Mayview Hospital for over 40 years.  In 2003, she was honored as the first member of the Mayview State Hospital Volunteer Hall of Fame. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Paul L. Henney Memorial Chapel, 5570 Library Rd, Bethel Park, PA 15102, (412) 835-1312. Guests are welcome at 10 AM.
