Ronald Evans Obituary

Ronald Earl Evans, 81, of Bethel Park, Pa, passed away on Friday April 12, 2024. He was born on June 21, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Ron served in the Army Reserve and dedicated his career to law enforcement. He joined the Bethel Park Police force in 1969 after 4 years with the Dormont Police. Ron was part of the first canine team with his partner, Bingo. After serving 25 years with the BPPD, Ron retired as a detective. He earned numerous awards for his exceptional service in the community. He later became the first Director of Security at Bethel Park School District, retiring once again in 2004.

Ron was a devoted member of Christ Methodist Church, where he volunteered as an usher. He was a founding member of the Bethel Park Athletic Hall of Fame and recipient of the Distinguished Contribution Award.  He was also a Mason.

Through the years, Ron enjoyed beach vacations, running, attending Bethel Park sporting events and cheering on Pittsburgh teams. After his retirement, he could be found enjoying coffee with his friends at the South Park Shops. He was known for his dedication to the community and especially his family. He loved being a grandfather and enjoyed every moment with his four grandchildren.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Evans; children, Bryan Evans (Lisa) and Tammy Hilton (Tom); grandchildren, Riley Evans, Alec, Lauren and Jake Hilton; sister, Linda Kavka (Greg Kurnal); Brother-in-law Donald Davison (Barbara Waite); Sister-in-law Betty Evans; nephews, Erik Evans and Chris Kavka; niece, Nicole Santo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl J. Evans and Mary Jane Evans; brother, Gary Evans; niece, Lindsay Kavka; sister-in-law, Carol Davison.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, Bethel Park, from 2-5 pm and 6-8pm. There will be a service rendered by the Fraternal Order of Police at 7pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road, Bethel Park, at 10 am on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Inurnment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, where a committal service and Military Honors will be accorded.
