What is Pre-planning?

What is Pre-Planning?

When you plan in advance of need, you are making choices based on your wishes as to how your final arrangements will be carried out. Thus, it is the process by which you can eliminate confusion, uncertainty, and unnecessary expense on the part of the person making your funeral arrangements, because you have already taken care of them.

What are the advantages of advanced funeral planning?

  • Gives you and your loved ones the relief of knowing it’s all taken care of.
  • Ensures everything can be carried out the way you want it.
  • Can protect the cost of funeral from inflation.
  • Preserves family savings and life insurance proceeds.
  • Can qualify for exemption for Medicaid/SSI.
  • Family out of town – Not everyone has “family” in town. We are a nation of travelers. And, although long-distance, out-of-town funeral arrangements are not uncommon, they tend to be more costly.
  • Offer flexibility – so if you move, you can easily transfer your arrangements.

How does someone go about pre-planning?

The best way to start is to sit with one of licensed funeral directors to get a better understanding of your options and what might work best for you and your situation. Knowing the subject is not always pleasant, our directors are trained to “walk you through” the process in a very non-threatening manner. This can be done in the comfort of your home, or at our facility. Many families have found our planning guide “What My Family Should Know” as a good starting point to understanding where to start and what your options are. We will be happy to provide you with a FREE copy of “What My Family Should Know”, should you like more information about pre-planning. Just contact us and we will be sure to get you your free copy.

There are many choices and options in pre-planning. You will be well-advised to discuss them with your funeral director. We will be glad to explain your options in detail. To help you reach an informed decision, we can also give you additional reading material for your study. Stop by or phone for valuable information on how you may help eliminate burdens associated with the loss of a loved one.
