Tuesday, August 29, 2017 Charles T. Beggs Sr., 90, passed away quietly at his home in Bethel Park, with his family at his side. Charles was born May 27, 1927 to Charles and Sarah Esther (Walls) Beggs in Greensburg, PA. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1945, served in the Air Force and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951.
In 1953, Charles began a long career as a financial advisor. Over the course of his sixty-year career he advised clients while working at Kay Richards, McKelvey & Co, Parker Hunter, Legg Mason, and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. A resident of Bethel Park since 1956, he was a member of the Bethel Park Kiwanis club for many years and served as a financial advisor to several local investment clubs. Charles joined St. Clair Country Club in 1971, which he lovingly referred to as his “second home.” In addition to being an avid golfer, Charles enjoyed skiing, bowling, Pitt basketball and football, the Steelers, reading, and being with family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wives Betty Lee (Vavick) and Virginia (Walker.) He is survived by daughter, Barbara Beggs; daughter Joani (W. Russell) McCormack; son Charles (Kathy) Beggs Jr.; daughter Sara Hauck and son David (Faye) Beggs; grandchildren, Shane McCormack; Chelsea and Zachary Beggs; Christopher, Nicole and Natalie Hauck; and Jacob Beggs; as well as cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday September 1, 2017 at Paul L. Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Road in Bethel Park. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at St. Louise de Marillac Church at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. The family would like to express their thanks to his caregivers and to Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
