Dukstein, Ralph R.
Age 85 of the Masonic Village at Sewickley, formerly of Bethel Park, Pa., passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 26, 2019. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carleen, and his son Edward, four grandchildren, Danielle, Timothy, Michael, and Nicholas; and his great granddaughter, Ava Marie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 50 years member and Past Master of the Dormont / Whitehall Masonic Lodge #684 and a Scottish Rite Mason, an assistant Boy Scout Leader, past president of the Bethel Park Kiwanis, and past member of the Bethel Park Chamber of Commerce, Library Sportsman’s Association, Stage 62 Community Theater, and YMCA of Pittsburgh South Hills Branch.
He worked for Dumont Television Network Station WDTV1952-1953, Westinghouse Broadcasting Co. KDKA-TV 1955-1956. He worked 21 years with Westinghouse in the Electric Co. and Security Systems divisions, the later he served as Field Service Manager for the U.S., and 17 years at General Electric, from which he retired in 1990. His hobbies included art and gardening, in which he was a Penn State Certified Master Gardener, was voted Gardener of the Year in 2000 by the Men’s Garden Club of Pittsburgh, and was a member of the Pittsburgh Bonsai Society for 15 years. In the arts, his interests included drawing and painting, and pastels when he came to the Village, where he donated most of his time to the Art Room and getting it organized. He also helped to get the Audiovisual Department started.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, March 9, 2019, 1:30 PM at the Masonic Village at Sewickley. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Ralph’s name. Arrangements handled by Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, Bethel Park
