Agnes Smith Obituary

Agnes “Angie” Smith, Of Bethel Park; beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 16, 2026. Born on April 14,1938 in Duquesne, PA. Angie lived a life defined by love, devotion, and generosity.

She was the loving wife of 67 years to the late Gerald (Jerry) Smith, with whom she built a beautiful life and family. Together they raised two children, Kevin and Becky, who were the center of her world. Angie’s greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was the heart of countless celebrations, as she was a fabulous cook and gracious host for every holiday gathering.

A longtime member of St. Valentine Church, Angie dedicated herself to her faith community. She taught CCD classes and was an active participant in Christian Mothers. Her faith and service were cornerstones of her life.

Angie’s passions extended beyond her family and church. She was an avid Bridge player, playing several days a week also competing in tournaments and forming lasting friendships through the game. She and Jerry enjoyed winters in St. Augustine, Florida, and together they traveled extensively, visiting France, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and exploring many destinations across the United States. Family beach vacations were among her most treasured traditions.

A woman of remarkable intellect and determination, Angie graduated as valedictorian of her senior class. After her children had reached middle school age, she went to work to help put them through college. She held positions as an Executive Administrative Assistant at LB Foster Company, Dale Carnegie Courses and Process Combustion Corp.

Angie’s legacy is one of love, faith, and family. She will be remembered for her warmth, her hospitality, her adventurous spirit, and her unwavering devotion to family and to those she held dear. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Agnes is survived by her son, Kevin Smith and his wife Kathy; her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Mathews and her husband Jerry; her grandchildren, Kelly (Adam) Spinnenweber, Kaitlin (Scott) Scheeser, Megan (Patrick) Hampel, Molly Mathews and Ryan Mathews; also survived by six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
