Betty Jane King (Frey), 87, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at Concordia of the South Hills.
Betty was born on December 24, 1938, in Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania, to the late Harry Frey and Minnie Hast Frey. On August 2, 1958, she married the love of her life, Frank D. King. They shared 66 wonderful years of marriage in Bethel Park before Frank’s passing in September 2025.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. During her working years, she held positions with U.S. Steel, Fort Couch Middle School, and a local dental practice, where she formed many lasting friendships.
A longtime and faithful member of Ruthfred Lutheran Church, Betty was deeply involved in her church community. She taught Sunday School for many years and remained active in church activities, including the Journey group.
Betty loved cooking for family and friends and enjoyed spending time on her porch swing, watching the weather and feeding the animals. She and Frank were also active members of the Bethel Park Gold Card Club for many years.
She is survived by her loving children, Laurie Ortell (Gregg) and David King (Jill); and her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Ortell, Rachel Ortell, and Max King.
In addition to her husband, Frank, she was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Frey and Minnie Hast Frey; her sister, Elaine Lutz (Frey); and her brothers, Bobby, Harry, Charles, and George Frey.
Her family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with Frank, and they will forever cherish the love, laughter, and light she brought into their lives.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 9th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10th, 11 AM at Ruthfred Lutheran Church, Bethel Park.
