Catherine Patterson

July 20, 1939 ~ April 13, 2023 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Catherine (Falgione) Patterson

Born to Nicholas Sr and Rose (Stinelli) Falgione in Pittsburgh, PA, on July 20, 1939, and Died on April 13, 2023, aged 83, after a brief illness.  She was a long-time resident of Bethel Park, PA, and settled in Texas in 2017 to enjoy retirement closer to her children.

Cathie is survived by a large and loving family, which includes her brother, Nicholas (Jan) Falgione Jr, her daughter, Michelle Patterson Douglass, her son, Todd (Cheryl) Patterson, her son, Kip (Beth) Patterson, her grandchildren, Dan (Jessie) Shea, Kellie (Eli) Stevens, Todd Patterson Jr (Vanessa Lopez), Luke Patterson, and her great-granddaughter Harper Shea.  She cherished her role as Aunt Cathie to Diane (Nick) Falgione, and her great-nephews, Nico and Michael, and loved spending time with her cousins and extended family.

Cathie was a graduate of the 1957 Class of St. Wendelin High School and enjoyed many reunions and gatherings with her classmates through the years.

Cathie enjoyed her young adult life as a homemaker and raising her children.  She served on the school board of the Bethel Park School District for many years, in pursuit of improving the quality of education for her community.  She went on to establish a well-loved career in Insurance and Finance, and eventually retired from Ameriprise Financial Advisors in 2010.

Cathie was a woman of many talents, but her true passions were on display at her home.  An avid gardener, she spent hours outdoors in the summer, enjoying tending to her beautiful plants and flowers.  Her favorite moments were lush summer evenings spent with family and friends, while enjoying the sounds and sights of nature around her as she relaxed on the deck.  She was a prolific home cook, and most of her skills were self-taught from a young age.  She amassed a collection of more than 1,000 recipes and made sure her family was well-fed with every visit.

In her retirement, Cathie enjoyed handcrafts, especially knitting, and recently discovered a new talent with painting.  Her children and grandchildren were lucky to receive lovely handmade gifts from her over the years which will be treasured dearly.  Like a proper native of her hometown, Cathie was a fervent Steelers fan, lifelong democrat, and a member of the League of Women’s Voters.
