Darlene E. Fielding of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of Rome, NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Russel C. Fielding, mother of Pamela (Rob) Backstrom, Roger (Barbara) Fielding, grandmother of Kelsey (Sean) Curtis, Geoffrey Backstrom, Russel Fielding and Becca Fielding, great-grandmother of Cassandra Curtis.

Darlene was born in Endicott, NY, where she graduated from Union Endicott High School. She earned a degree in music education from Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. She taught private piano lessons and was an elementary school music teacher in the Rome, NY public schools for many years. She married Russel in 1951.

Darlene was very active in her Rome, NY community. She served on the board of trustees of Jervis Public Library, and was a deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Rome. She also participated in several community service organizations.

Darlene loved to read and was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

There are no visiting hours scheduled.  A memorial service for Darlene will be held in the spring
