Denise I. Murray

Denise I. Murray, 70, of Bethel Park, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. She was a 10-year breast cancer survivor, however cancer returned last year and spread to other locations.

She was the loving wife of Tom Murray Jr. of Bethel Park; devoted mother of Christa Carberry of Wilmington DE, Adam (Laura) Carberry, Bradley (Paloma) Carberry, and Craig (Allison) Carberry, all living in Pittsburgh; and adoring Grammie of Penelope Carberry. She was the stepmother of Tom Murray III and Beth Ann (Ted) Wahl; as well as sister of Ronald (Beverly) Powers, Phyllis Kraus, Kevin (Karen) Powers, and Noreen (Steve) Black, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Denise graduated from St. Basil High School in Carrick and then St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She finished her nursing career at Jefferson Hospital and then went into private homecare and daycare services. She enjoyed taking care of everyone, especially kids.

Denise loved Tom driving her around the country on road trips, especially hunting for handcrafted furniture, but the highlights were several trips to Hawai’i.

She was always lending a helping hand volunteering, from the funnel cake booth at the St. Anne Parish Fair to helping organize the American Cancer Society Bark for Life of South Hills events, associated with Relay for Life.

Denise was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel (Shultz) Powers, and her sister, Kathleen Powers.

Family and Friends will gather at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park, on Thursday, March 9, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on March 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Valentine Church – Our Lady of Hope Parish.

Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in her honor.
