Derek Roberts of Crescent Township died suddenly on 8th August after a three week vacation in Florida with his daughter and her family. Originally from Newport, South Wales, UK Derek moved to the US in the early 2000s and first settled in Newport Beach, CA. After spending several years in California, he relocated for a new job opportunity, to Pittsburgh, where he remained for the rest of his life. He loved his work in the world of titanium and enjoyed his many interactions with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
He was an avid sports fan who regularly watched ice hockey, baseball and football games. He loved his life in the States and considered it to be his home. However, he always stayed close to his roots and not only read Welsh news online but was also a lifelong fan of Newport County FC and closely followed Welsh rugby and cricket along with Formula One. He made regular visits to his hometown and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Luna and eating the local fish & chips. He is survived by his partner Olga, his daughter Rachel, along with his granddaughter Luna. Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 16 from 11am until the time of memorial service 12PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd Bethel Park , Pa 15102.
