Donald Otto “Chief”

Of Bethel Park, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.  Don was the beloved husband of 70 years to Jean(Becker) Scheeser; loving  father of Donna(William) Bird, Gary(Grace) Scheeser, Karen(William) Kuskil and Ronald(Jane) Scheeser; cherished grandfather of Andrew(Jamie) Kuskil, Scott(Kaitlin) Scheeser, Olivia(Jonathan) Kelly, Alan(Laura) Kuskil, Sarah(Jason) Bialek and Allison(Brandon) Nicholson.  He was the proud great-grandfather of Brandon and Amelia Kelly; Margot and Dean Kuskil, Brees and Capri Bialek, and Luke, Claire, and Audrey Jean Scheeser.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mercedes Scheeser, his sister, Jean (Robert) Frisch, and brother, William (Jean) Scheeser.

 Don served in the United States Navy, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, and worked for Equitable Gas for 38 years.   He was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord. 

 Chief adored his wife, Jean and cherished time spent with his dear children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  During his retirement years, Chief enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking, and his second home in Clearwater, Fl.  He also treasured his time at his home in Bethel Park.  Chief and Mom had a beautiful in-ground pool in their backyard of which he was so proud. Many wonderful gatherings of beloved family and friends were enjoyed at Chief’s pool.   His family always meant the world to him.

Family and friends will be received Friday, 2-8 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, 10 AM at Resurrection Parish/St. Thomas More Church. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the Family suggests donations in his memory can be made to Gallagher Hospice, 1370 Washington Pike, Ste 401B, Bridgeville, PA 15017.  Special thanks to the caregivers at Gallagher and White Tail Springs Memory Care Center for the loving care given to Don.
