Dr. Dennis J Courtney

Of Peters Twp., formerly of Bethel Park; age 78; passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February11, 2026; son of the late Joseph and Jeanne Courtney; beloved husband of the late Joan(Fazio) Courtney; loving father of Joseph Courtney, Vincent(Stephanie) Courtney, Jack(Dr. Ashley Arnao) Courtney and Dennis Courtney, Jr., grandfather of Jack and James Courtney, brother of Shelley(Tom) Brajercik and Jolene Donati; brother in law of Patricia(James) Villanova, Mary(Gregg) Bard,
John(Patricia) Fazio, Linda(Mark) Mazzei, and the late James V. Fazio, also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dennis graduated in 1965 from Bethel Park High School and later taught Health and was the swim coach at his former High School. He was a graduate of Lockhaven University, where he was a brother of the KDR Fraternity. He went on to study medicine in Monterrey, Mexico, at the University Nuevo Leo’n. He later moved back to Pittsburgh and met his wife while a resident at West Penn Hospital. He was an Anesthesiologist on staff at many hospitals in the region. He furthered his career and passion for medicine after leaving the hospital setting he became a fierce advocate for alternative medicine. Dennis was instrumental in pioneering new treatments for a litany of diseases. Dennis was an accomplished pilot. The boys will fondly remember his love for aviation; at the age of 15, the four of them were put in the cockpit. He enjoyed many activities: golfing with his boys, music, and spending time with his grandsons. His greatest accomplishment was being a husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, February 15th, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, February 16 th, 10 AM at St. John XXIII Parish/ St. Benedict the Abbot Church, McMurray,
