Fred J. Shoemaker

Fred J. “Shoes” Shoemaker, 85, of Bethel Park, PA, passed peacefully away on June 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 30,1940, Fred was the son of the late Fred F. Shoemaker and Marie Koepfer Shoemaker.

He graduated from Carrick High School in 1958. He went on to become a Customer Service Manager for various financial printing companies and spent most of his career with Bowne & Co. Financial Printing.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Fred was a 32nd degree member of the Masonic Lodge for 55 years.

In his spare time, Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife Judy, and following the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed watching wildlife.

He is survived by his wife Judy Shoemaker of 56 years; four daughters, Michele (Robert) Jakiel, Lori (Charlie) Hoffman, Jill Shoemaker and Susan (David Elkins) Shoemaker; six grandchildren, Stephen, Ryan, Matthew, Meghan, Emma and Estella; and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his son, Scott Shoemaker.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park, PA, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 PM. A funeral service will take place Friday June 26, 2026, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2999 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park, PA at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
