George F Kopac

“Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might,” summarized the guiding principle of George Kopac’s life. George, 83, formerly of Peters Township, entered glory on Wednesday, March 15 and was preceded in death by his beautiful bride of nearly 60 years, Shirley Lynn (Boyce) and parents, Frank and Sophie (Pucel) Kopac. He is survived by devoted daughter, Lynn Vogel (Robert), caring grandchildren, Andrew Vogel (Cassandra) and Jennifer Vogel, and loving sister, Eileen Straight, sisters-in-law Judy Osthoff and Marilyn Couch, and nieces and nephews. George served in the army as a Fuel & Electrical Systems Repairman and carried those skills into employment at RCA as an electronics technician and later as an air-monitoring control specialist for the PA Department of Environmental Protection. He was known for his ability to repair anything, knowledge of car mechanics, love of gardening, friendly smile, and gentle personality. In addition to attending Westminster Presbyterian Church, as a resident of Friendship Village, he attended Anglican and Vesper services, a weekly Bible study, and participated in the Friendship Village Choir. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 18 from 11-2 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park with a service at 2 PM. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, April 1st, 2 PM at Friendship Village.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Village Employee Appreciation Fund, 1290 Boyce Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241, Parkinson’s Foundation, www.parkinson.org, or Ruthfred Lutheran Church Benevolence Fund, 3401 S Park Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15102.
