George T. Mathews

George T. Mathews, 68, of Pittsburgh, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2023.

He was born on April 23, 1955, to the late William and Rita Mathews.

Loving husband of 45 years to Jeanne; beloved father of Ellen (Joe) Divers, Jeff (Alanna) Mathews, and Eric Mathews. The best Pappy to five grandchildren; Connor, Claire, Henry, Athena, and Theodore. Brother to Bill (Sandi) Mathews, the late Marilyn Mathews, Bob (Lynn) Mathews, the late Rita Almond, Don Mathews, and Peggy (Greg) Watson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

George was a 1973 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He then continued to attend Robert Morris University and The University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his MBA.

He spent his career working in IT.

George was very active in Our Lady of Hope Parish – St. Germaine Catholic Church, singing in the contemporary choir.

He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, watching Jeopardy, and listening to NPR, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Hope Parish – St. Germaine Catholic Church, Baptist Road, Bethel Park, on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10am. Everyone please meet at the church.

Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
