Gloria (Goughenour) Spowart

Our Mom, Nana, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven. It gives us peace knowing that she has joined her hand with our Dad’s as they glide across heaven’s dance floor. Mom was born an only child to George and Esther Goughenour in Pittsburgh, Pa on June 7, 1934. Mom had many friends from her childhood that she cherished her entire life. She loved sharing her memories as a head majorette with the South Hills High School marching band. Mom worked as an executive assistant at Westinghouse when she met our dad, Tom Spowart. Together they had 3 children Cindy Myers, Heather( Mark) Blair and Tom(Becky) Spowart which filled her heart with pride and joy. Although, her most favorite title was Nana to Alex, Ashlyn, Andrew, Taylor and Cole. Her love had no boundaries when it came to her grandchildren. Mom was blessed with many good friends and a special “sister”. Mom was an active member at Hamilton Presbyterian Church for 57 years where she sang in the chancel choir for 40 years and a youth fellowship leader along with our dad and good friends for 15 years. Mom and Dad introduced us to the lake life where friends became family. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, George and Esther Goughenour, her loving husband, Tom and her son-in-law, Pete “Rocky” DeNillo. We will miss you mommy but you will be forever in our hearts. Family and friends will be received Thursday, January 14, from 4-7 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park where a Celebration of Her Life will take place Thursday, 7 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to South Hills Interfaith Movement, 5301 Park Avenue, Bethel Park,
