James Patrick McGrath

Passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 31, 2022.  Beloved husband of 55 years to Kathleen M. McGrath; loving father of James (Lisa) McGrath and Maura McGrath; proud “pap-pap” of Morgan, Matthew, Maggie, Molly, Jordyn, Kendyl and Sydney.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Martin, Tommy, Donald, Paul and Joanne.  Jim served in the United States Army after he graduated from Duquesne University with a B.S. of Science in Mathematics.  He then took his education and experience and had a successful 40-year career with US Steel.  He attended St. Basil School in Carrick and formed relationships that thrived to this day with the “St. Basil Boys”.  He was a long-time active member of St. Louise de Marillac Church, where he could be found daily.  He was an accomplished baseball player when he was younger and stayed an avid fan his entire life.  Jim was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.  Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd. Bethel Park.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, 1 pm, at St. Louise de Marillac Church, St. Catherine Laboure Parish.  Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
