Joseph Bianco Obituary

Joe Bianco, age 68 of Bethel Park, succumbed peacefully at home after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, Jan 31, 2024, surrounded by his wife, Karen, his children and grandchildren. Known to his friends and family as Big Joe, Hunk or Whoompa, he was the biggest Bethel Park supporter, always cheering on his children (and everyone else’s) in all of their sports and activities. He was the middle son of the late Joseph and Anna Bianco of Bethel Park. He was the ultimate dad to his children, Joey Bianco of Bethel Park, Stephanie (Pat) Corbett of Bethel Park, Maggie (Fred) Allen of Belle Veron, and Jacob, whom they lost in infancy. Joe was an adoring and doting “Pup-Pup” to his nine grandchildren Emma, Mia, Sophia, Patrick, Alice, Freddie, Lucia, Lydia and Loretta. Brother of Vince (Cheryl) Bianco, Mike (Kathy) Bianco and sister, Lucy (the late Sean) Morrison. The son-in-law to Ralph (Karen) Litzenburger, and the late Imogene Litzenburger; the brother-in-law to Ralph (Syd) Litzenburger, Nancy (Kevin) Bandi and Jill (Doug) Davis; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.  He will be greatly missed by his best friend and constant companion, “The Dog”, Margo.

His love story with his wife, Karen (Litzenburger) began when Joe moved to Bethel Park and became infatuated with his new neighbor, the little brown eyed girl across the street. Karen was his best friend of 60 years and wife of 44 years; they built a beautiful life together centered around their growing family.  Joe made many friends across the Pittsburgh region through his entire career employed by Pepsi.  After his retirement, he was employed by his granddaughters as their personal chauffeur. Going to Dunkin Donuts before school, picking up after, and driving to dance lessons, work, and dropping off for an afternoon of shopping at the mall.

Joe enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends and family, puzzles, gardening, tinkering in the garage and telling ‘dad’ jokes to his grandkid’s. Joe loved big and will also be missed big. Remember Joe with a hug to those you love or tell a ‘dad’ joke in his memory.   Family and friends will be received on Friday from 3-7 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church, 5303 Madison Ave. Bethel Park.
