Of Bethel Park; age 94; died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 12, 2021; Margy was born on December 1, 1926 to Stephen and Anna(Lesko) Hornyak who were immigrants from Budapest Hungary. She was the second youngest of their ten children: Stephen Hornyak, Matilda Nemeth, Frances Mate, John Hornyak, Anna Seiler, Goldie Fox, Elizabeth Vereb, Edith Krakowski and baby Joseph Hornyak.
She graduated from Saint Mary of the Mount High School in 1943 and worked in the candy department of Woolworth’s and at Kaufmann’s as an elevator operator before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Burtle Lawrence Cubbison on July 10, 1946. Together Burt and Margy raised six children; Margaret (the late Richard)Puckett, Burt(Linda) Cubbison, Nancy(Dan) Makowski, Norman Cubbison, Mary Cubbison and Mark(Jane)Cubbison.
Margy loved life. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, helping Burt with projects around the house, loving all children especially her six children, twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, and even volunteered to help children at Whittier Elementary School. When Burt retired Margy, supplemented their income by working at Sears for ten years.
She was preceded in death her parents, her husband, her nine siblings and her daughter, Mary.
Family and friends will be received Friday, October 15, from 3-9 PM at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, October 16 Noon at Blessed Trinity/Holy Angels Campus, Hays, PA.(Everyone Please Meet At Church) Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
