She joined her loved ones who preceded her in death: her beloved husband John of 52 years; her mother, Elizabeth Downey Trbovich; her father, Peter Downey; her stepfather, George Trbovich; her brother Thomas Alvin Downey; and her daughter, Deborah Patricca.
She is survived by her loving daughter Dianne Polome, sons-in-law Carl Patricca and Michael Polome; and grandchildren Brianna (Isaac) Meyers, Jeremy Patricca, Travis Patricca, Corey Patricca, and Kaylee Patricca; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 11 AM at Waterdam Church, 208 Galley Rd, Canonsburg, PA 15317. Doors will open at 10 AM so that friends may visit with the family before the service. Guests are welcome to wear a favorite color, in honor of Mary Ann’s love for all the colors.
Mary Ann was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and with her husband John, raised her family in Pleasant Hills and Lone Pine, PA. After a short career as a telephone operator/supervisor for Bell Telephone, she learned sign language and became a registered interpreter for the deaf and later taught sign language at CCAC. She greatly enjoyed teaching sign language again in her later years to her caregivers and fellow residents in senior living facilities. She also taught typing and other subjects at several private schools. Above all, she was passionate about her love for people and her faith in Christ, which she sought to share with everyone she met.
