Nicholas Sutkovich Obituary

 

Nicholas A. Sutkovich, of Union City, formerly of Bethel Park, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, 

 

Nick was born on December 29, 1953 to Nick and Elizabeth Sutkovich. 

 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (Layne) Sutkovich; children, Nicole (Rodney) Hanson, Steve (Lisa) Layne, David (Jeannie) Layne, Jennifer (Dave) Sherman, and Jeffery (Summer) Hayes; grandchildren, Rodney, Tatum, Tristan, Emily, Elijah, DaLesha, Hunter, Jaks, Paige, Layla, and Dylan. 

 

Nick graduated from Bethel Park High School. He married Karen Layne, of Bethel Park, and they then made their home in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania for 27 years until moving their lives together to Canadohta Lake, Union City, Pennsylvania. 

 

He was employed by the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 154 from 1987 until 2006, as a mechanic and certified welder at various power plants across Pittsburgh, Virginia, Ohio, and Elk County. 

 

Nick was also a Mason with the Sunset Lodge 237 in Washington and the Monessen Chapter 0164 and achieved his 32nd Degree at the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction in New Castle, Pennsylvania. 

 

He loved his family, wife, children, grandchildren, and fur babies. He enjoyed riding his Harley and just recently finished building himself a trike. He was also very proud of his 1933 Ford Vicky which he and his wife would enjoy going to car shows with. 

 

He had that personality that once you met him, you would never forget him. He will be extremely missed by his family and friends.
