Paula Ann (White) Huffman, 83, of Bethel Park, passed away suddenly but peacefully on March 3, 2025 while recovering from a recent injury.
Survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Huffman of Bethel Park, sons Jeffrey (David Della Peruta) of Portland, Oregon and Charles of Apex, North Carolina, as well as siblings Robert White, Jr. (Carol), David White (MaryAnne), Susan Wilson (Thomas) and Raymond White (Karen), brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and many dear friends. Paula was predeceased by her parents, stepmother Betty Lou White, sister Roslyn Studvick and nephew Dallas Bowman.
Born in Chicago on March 26, 1941 to the late Robert White, Sr. and LaVerne (Stokes) White, the majority of Paula’s upbringing occurred in Clairton, PA. Paula graduated from the Pennsylvania State University and obtained a master’s degree in early childhood education from Indiana University. Paula was a full-time stay-at-home mom for many years before returning to the workforce as a career counselor, as a substitute teacher, managing an employment agency and finally as the Coordinator of Volunteers and Special Events for nearly 20 years with a local non-profit youth-focused organization from which she retired in 2011.
Paula joined the Delta Delta Delta sorority at Penn State and frequently remarked that it was one of the best decisions she ever made, as she cherished the lifelong friendships she made and the opportunities it afforded her. Beyond college, Paula served in many local, regional and national roles with her beloved sisterhood for over 50 years. Recently, Paula also enjoyed the friendships she made while being part of the Women’s Club of Upper St. Clair. She was also an avid bridge, pinochle and euchre player, loved to read, going to movies and the performing arts, and was fortunate to travel frequently domestically and internationally with her husband and friends. Paula loved Christmas, festooning the house with seasonal trimmings and was proud of her extensive ornament collection. She was a die-hard Steelers and Penguins fan.
Always proud of her Clairton roots, it became an ongoing legend that no matter where in the world she was, Paula could discover through conversation with strangers that they were either from Clairton or knew a mutual acquaintance from Clairton. Friends were often stunned at how frequently this happened, even in unexpected little corners of the world.
Paula always prioritized the happiness of her friends and family and was often the organizer of get-togethers and fun trips. She will be greatly missed by those who had the good fortune to have benefitted from her cheerful and giving nature.
Visitation will be at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park, on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes. Paula will be inurned privately in the Columbarium at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair.
In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
