Age 86, previously of Bethel Park, Pa., passed away July 6th, 2020 in Round Rock, Tx.

 He was born January 25, 1934 in Lake City, Mn. He married Beverly Ann Connaughton on June 16, 1956. They had three children: Michael Charles, Teresa Ann & Katarina Lynn.

He married Sandra Gaugler in Aug 1986, adopting her daughters Jennifer and Allyson

Richard retired from PPG in 1996. He was active in the United Methodist church (First United and Christ United Methodist Churches of Bethel Park). He was a past Master of Bethel Park Masonic Lodge #761, and served as the District Deputy Grand Master in 1995. He was an active visitor to the Masonic homes and supporter of their charities.

An avid sports fan and bird watcher, he enjoyed so much of life. He never seemed to meet a stranger or an animal he didn’t like.

He is survived by his daughters Katarina Gowins and Allyson (Scott) Spezier; Son-in-Law Edward Fox(Teresa);  4 grandchildren: Greg Benjamin, Benjamin Gowins,  Diane and Lewis Fox. He is also survived by his sisters Diane Schuth, Nancy Cary, Linda Benjamin and sister-in-law Muriel Benjamin all of Minnesota, along with multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, his brother Robert, daughter Jennifer, wife Sandra, son Michael and daughter Teresa.

A Masonic service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 9:00 am at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, Bethel Park.  Following the Masonic service, a memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church at 10 am with inurnment to follow in the Christ United Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to “Masonic Charities” or “Visiting Angels of Austin” or a local hospice organization.
