Robert A “Bob” Stewart

Of South Park; age 84; passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023; beloved husband of 58 years to Pat(Cipriani); father of Jeff and the late Russell; grandfather of Chris, Derek and Garrett(Kali); brother of Shirley and the late Gil, Ralph, Walt, Earl and Linda; Known affectionately as "Stretch" to friends and family due to his 6’4”, 2:30 lb frame, Bob was a man with a big personality, sharp wit and great sense of humor. He loved good-natured pranks and jokes, especially ribbing those closest to him.  Although he had a booming voice, his bark was most often way more serious than his bite. He was an Army veteran serving in the military police in Stuttgart, Germany in the early 1960s. He was a certified marksman and sharpshooter with rifle and pistol, and attained the rank of Corporal in his two years of service. He retired from Port Authority and was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 85. Bob enjoyed working on cars, fixing them up in his younger days and always keeping them polished and clean inside and out. He also enjoyed going to the casino, to the movies, or out to dinner. Above all, he cherished his family and let his love show loudest of all. He took us on many vacations including trips to the shore, amusement parks, Disney, and everything in between. More importantly, he made sure to spend quality time. He always made time to play with the kids when they were young and attended every school function, play, parade or any other milestone. He also made sure to impart his life lessons – he taught us to always try to do the right thing, be strong, and firm but kind. Every adventure was done with his wife Pat by his side because as he would say with a wink and a smile, “It sure beat the hell out of having to kiss her goodbye.” Family and friends will be received Thursday, September 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, September 22, AT 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church.  Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery with military honors.  In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation (alzra.org).
