Rose “Rosie” Marie [Kapolka] Kosol passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, holding the hand of her Beloved Husband, Donald “Don" Kosol, as they slept. Rose leaves behind a tidal wave of fond memories which reach her family members near and far. In her 82 years, she provided an abundance of memories centering around family.
Rose is a true Pittsburgh native. Born to Andrew John and Anna Catherine [Kasecky] Kapolka, she was one of seven; Marcelline “Marcy” (Norman) Nemecek, Andrew “Andy” (Betty) Kapolka, John “Johhny” Kapolka, Anna Marie Schwager, Mary (Victor) Miniajlo, and Joseph Kapolka.
Beloved wife of Donald Kosol; Mother of Cynthia Melkon, Theresa Scruggs (Darren), Donna (Chris) Austin, and Donald Andrew Kosol Jr.; Grandmother of Cassandra Platt (David), Courtney Scruggs, Ian Scruggs, Jonas Scruggs, Brock Austin, Zoey Kosol, Aeris Kosol, Donovan Kosol, and Nathan Kosol; and Great Grandmother of Jack Platt, Henry Platt, Franklin Platt, Emerald “Mini Rose” Platt, Liam Scruggs, and Forrest Scruggs
Learning from her mother’s incredible culinary skills and philosophy of feeding anyone who walked into her home, Rose would provide food with the phrase “Eat, Eat.” From her stuffed cabbage and pierogi to her homemade Easter candies and baked goods, you knew that any visit, be it a party or short visit to the house, would end with a full stomach and a warm heart.
Her kind heart and spirit will continue to impact the family for generations to come as grandchildren pass their love and memories to their children and beyond. She is in the arms of the Lord, continuing to guide us in spirit. She sends reminders of her presence throughout the day to each of us in her own unique way.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday, 12/8/2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Paul Henney Funeral Home, Bethel Park. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, 12/9/2025, 10 am, St. Valentine Catholic Church.
