Stanley Wayne Fast, Jr.
S. Wayne Fast, Jr., age 69, of Bethel Park, PA, died Monday, May 22, 2023, from pancreatic cancer. Wayne was born on June 29, 1953, in Shreveport, LA, to the late Stanley W. Fast, Sr. and Martha Paisley Fast.
Wayne graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1976 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. An employee of PPG Industries for 39 years, he traveled the globe in support of dangerous goods transportation safety. Wayne was a member of the AIChE(American Institute of Chemical Engineers) for over 40 years and a registered professional engineer in Louisiana. His passion for scouting, developed in his youth as an Eagle Scout, extended into his adult life and included serving as scoutmaster of Troop 215 in Bethel Park, as well as numerous family camping trips.
Wayne served as an elder and deacon in the Presbyterian Church and was a devoted member of John McMillan Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park for over 38 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, playing in several golf leagues, woodworking and took pleasure in researching his family history.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia ”Cindy” of 47 years; daughter Laura Waterstram (John Kirk) of Bethel Park; son Stanley W. Fast, III (Autumn) of St. Paul, MN; brother Alan Fast of Emporia, KS; and grandchildren John “Jack” & Henry Waterstram, and Theo, Paisley & Weston Fast.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10 AM at John McMillan Presbyterian Church, 875 Clifton Rd, Bethel Park, PA 15102. Reception to follow at the church.
