Theresa Marie (Kasuba) Fasano, 96, of South Hills, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. Clair Hospital in Mount Lebanon. Theresa was born and grew up in Tarentum, PA. She raised her family in Oklahoma Borough in Washington Township. Since 2011, Theresa resided in the South Hills area. She is survived by her children; Linda (David) Bell, Angelo (Lillian) Fasano and Thomas (Clarissa) Fasano; her grandchildren, Cassie (Brian) Powell, Brian Betchoski, Chloe’ Fasano, Luke Fasano, Shanna (fiancé, Paul) Fasano and Aaron Fasano; great grandchildren, Emma and Jacob Powell, godchild, Julie Booth, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Marino Fasano, her loving husband of 63 years; her parents, Joseph and Mary Kasuba, four brothers and eight sisters.
Short in stature but strong in heart, Theresa’s favorite three-word closing on every card, letter and phone call was, “Keep the Faith!” Keeping the faith was how Theresa lived her life every day. Theresa was as practical and genuine as they come, and anyone who she came in contact with were blessed with her positivity and kindness. Theresa’s family was fortunate to witness how she lived her life and practiced her Catholic faith. Theresa and Marino met in the choir at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Vandergrift, PA, and Marino’s pickup line to her back then was complimenting her Latin. The love they shared from that first encounter produced three children and lasted until Marino passed away in 2020. A two-time breast cancer survivor - the first time in her mid-50s and the second time in her 70s, Theresa’s strong faith in the Lord carried her through her recoveries. Theresa always made the best out of any situation, never having a bad word to say about anyone. She was a huge fan of all Pittsburgh sports, would make phone calls to her children to recap Steelers victories, and loved to cheer for Notre Dame football. Serving others was extremely important to Theresa, whether it was helping her family, church or volunteering in the community. In the last six years of her life, Theresa developed a strong affinity to cardinals and built lasting friendships at her apartment complex. Her friends helped to overcome her fear of elevators at her apartment building so she could play Bingo, check her mail, hang out with them in the lobby, buy a Honey Bun in the vending machine, purchase creamsicles and fudgesicles at the ice cream truck or ride the shuttle at Caste Village to shop at Giant Eagle or Hallmark or have a bite to eat at Frisch’s or Panera Bread.
Theresa was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church, Apollo, PA, where she sang in the funeral choir with Marino, was an active member of The Rosary Confraternity and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She and Marino joyfully volunteered each year to make the church’s famous nut rolls for the annual St. James Catholic Church nut rolls fundraiser. She also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Store in Apollo, PA, West Haven Nursing Home in Washington Township for 20 years and Meals on Wheels with Marino.
