William (“Bill”) Frederick Best was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 31, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. Bill was born in Pittsburgh on December 15, 1937. He was preceded in death by his father, William F. Best, his mother, Blanche Gray, his stepfather Harry Gray, and the love of his life and best friend Margie (Roth) Best. Surviving are his beloved sister-in-law, Susan (Roth) Burger and her husband Ron Burger, nephew Ross Beall and his wife Leah and their daughter Charlotte, and niece Stacey Beall and her husband Brandon Wetzel. Also surviving are several cousins, many friends, and his church family at Library Baptist Church in Finleyville. Bill graduated from the Milton Hershey School where he learned many skills both in the classroom and on the farm where the school was located. Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force and later worked for Gulf Oil and then as a printing manager for Westinghouse. While at Westinghouse, Bill attended night school and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Bill had many hobbies and accomplishments, but the most important part of his life was his relationship with Jesus. Bill loved the Lord and shared our Lord’s love with others. Whether it was writing hundreds of personal cards to shut-ins, the sick, and elderly in his area, visiting shut-ins and bringing them meals, cooking countless meals for the youth group retreats at Library Baptist Church, or simply putting a Bible tract in with his monthly bills, Bill was always trying to share God’s word with others, so that they too might have a personal relationship with Jesus. Bill will be missed by many, but his brothers and sisters in Christ know we will one day see him again. Praise the Lord! Viewings will be held on Thursday, February 4th from 6:00pm-8:00pm and on Friday, February 5th from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Paul L. Henney Memorial Chapel located at 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park, PA. A gathering at Paul L. Henney Memorial Chapel will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, February 6th with a procession to Library Baptist Church in Finleyville, PA for a service starting at 11 AM and a luncheon to follow. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, should anyone wish to make a donation in memory of Bill, the family kindly requests those donations be made to Library Baptist Church in Finleyville, PA or to the City Church in New Castle, PA.
