William Howard Obituary

William J. Howard

“Bill”

Age 87, of Bethel Park, formerly of Baldwin Township, returned home to Jesus peacefully, surrounded by his family during the evening of Friday, September 4th, 2020.  Bill was a devoted husband to Genevieve “Deb” (Brennan) for 58 years before she preceded him to Heaven.  Their marriage was a true testament to how a couple’s love for one another can continue to grow stronger through life’s trials and tribulations, “through sickness and in health, until death they did part”.  And now death reunites them for eternity.  He was an amazing father of four blessed and forever grateful children: Genevieve Walsh, William “Bill” Howard, Stephanie (Kevin) Hoffman and Charlene Howard.  His patience, guidance, understanding and strength were unmatched.  He was the best role model and source of family strength that anyone could ask for.  He was the purest soul and greatest grandfather, preceded by grandson Preston and will be forever loved and missed by granddaughter Jennifer, as well as others.  He will also be missed by his surviving brother, Jim Howard, nieces, extended family and friends.  Preceded also in death by his parents James and Winifred, sisters Jane Huber and Rita Howard and brother Tom Howard.  He was a devout catholic with an unwavering faith and found comfort in the power of prayer.  Leading by example he shared his faith through modest acts of kindness, thoughtful compassion and generosity.  With a heart of gold and a never-ending sense of humor that was unpredictable, sometimes subtle, but appreciated by everyone who was lucky enough to get to experience his wit, laugh and smile.  He maintained his humor through to the end.  Forever loved, forever cherished and forever missed.  We love you always… see you in Heaven.  Bill was a proud US Airforce Veteran, serving from 1952-1955.  A memorial mass will be offered on Friday, September 18th, 12 Noon at St. Valentine Catholic Church.  Interment with military honors will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements handled by Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, Bethel Park.  State and CDC guidelines will be followed, please contact the funeral home if you have any questions.
