William Rhoads, Jr. Obituary

William E Rhoads Jr or just good old Pap. Passed on to his eternal reward on March 22nd after a brief illness. Pap was born in Wheeling Wv to William And Pauline Rhoads. He was married to the love of his life, his best friend, Sherry for 58 years. The two of them were absolutely inseparable. Their love is an example for all of us to strive to have. The entire time in the hospital all he wanted was to get home to take care of her. They truly are the loves of each other’s life. The very proud father of Jeff (Colleen) of Canonsburg, Jenny (Tom) of Moundsville WV, and John (Holly) of Waxhaw NC. The joys of his life were his grandchildren: Grant, Christopher, Drew, Emily, Kara, Leah, and Sofia. He was also preceded in Heaven by his Grandchildren Adam, Troy, Trent, and Camryn (they were surely the first ones to greet him when he arrived).

Bill is a very strong Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This helps us all to move forward in such a time as this. We know that he is in heaven and is no longer suffering. Pap’s desire and ours is for everyone who reads this to come to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. He instilled this in all of us and we know with zero doubt we will see him in heaven one day.

Pap was always a fixture at his grandkids events- rarely did he ever miss a game of hockey, soccer, or baseball. He was at boat races, dance recitals, and plays. He was a fixture in the stands and the kids appreciated it more than he could ever imagine. The kids all speak so fondly of their times together and a huge piece of him lives on in them. We as parents can’t thank him enough for the role he played in their lives!

He was a fixture in the church his entire life, that’s where he and Sherry found their most enjoyment.

Bill loved to work on his sports car and loved spending time with his friends from the Western Pennsylvania Triumph Association. He was a world traveler with trips to Israel, Turkey, and Haiti amongst his favorites. He was a friend to everyone and quick to breakout a story. His sense of humor and quick wit has been passed on to all of us. We always refer to him as the smartest man we know- when in doubt ask Pap.

We lost a great man but we know he is celebrating a life well lived in Heaven. We will see you again Pap and we thank you for the example you gave us for how to live and love.
