Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret M. (Mulkeen) Conway

July 23, 1923 ~ November 19, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Margaret Conway passed peacefully and painlessly in her sleep early Sunday morning, November 19, 2017.

She was born in McKees Rocks on July 23, 1923 to Patrick Mulkeen of County Mayo, Ireland, and Mary Mulkeen of County Clare, Ireland.  Her siblings were Jack, Frances, Helen, Bernard, Vincent (her twin), and Bill. All had preceded her in death.

She met Justin Presy Brown in a TB sanatorium where they both spent their teenage years. Beating the odds, they both recovered and were soon married.   They shared a deep faith and zest for life that benefited and guided their lives. They lost their first child, Patrick to meningitis, but raised two sons: Robert Justin and Kevin Justin. Robert Justin married Christine Hansen, and they had Tricia (Kerry), Hilary and David (Alexandra). Kevin Justin married Kristi Shaw, and they had Alexandra Murphy (Will), Kelsey Lawrie (Connor), Kevin Brown Jr. (Jessica), and Eleanor.  She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Emmet and Emma.

When she was only 44, Margaret lost her husband, Justin, and later married Loyal Conway of Bethel Park. She made many friends in that community and became active at St Louise de Merillac as a Lady of Charity. Loyal passed away in 2004. Margaret later moved to the Asbury Heights where she happily remained a vibrant part of that community until her passing.

Despite all her hardships, Margaret always managed to find the silver lining. She was the life of the party, never met a stranger and was quick with a laugh or a well-timed one-liner. Once crowned “Miss Irish Eyes”, Margaret was always well dressed, aged with grace and style and had a sparkle that never faded. She was truly a joy to love and loved so many.  She will be remembered for her gratefulness, positivity, and wit as she made the best of every situation.

A funeral mass will be held at St Bernard’s Church, 401 Washington Road, at 10:00 am Saturday, December 9, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Education Partnership, 281 Corliss St, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, for the benefit of students in McKees Rocks.
